CHAPTER 191.

Passed March
4, 1845.

A further supplement to an act to abolish the Levy Court
of Saint Mary's County, and to provide for the election
of commissioners for said County by the people thereof,
passed December session, eighteen hundred and thirty-
eight, chapter sixty-seven.

To elect the
commissioners
by the people.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the judges of election for each election
district in Saint Mary's county, or a majority of them, shall
at the time of holding the election for commissioners of
said county, certify and return in form and manner, similar
to the certificates and returns of the election of delegates
to the General Assembly of Maryland, the number of votes
cast in their respective districts for each candidate for com-
missioner, and the presiding judges shall at the time and
in the manner and form prescribed by the law regulating
the election of delegates aforesaid, proceed to add up the
whole number of voles cast for each candidate for com-
missioner, and having ascertained the same, shall declare
and return as duly elected one person from each election
district, which person must have, received a larger number
of all the votes cast than any other person residing in the
same said district.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the commissioners now
elected and in office, and those hereafter to be elected, shall
have full power and authority to elect a clerk who shall
receive such compensation as has been heretofore allowed

done by the commissioners now elected and in office, are

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That so much of the second
section of an act passed at December session, eighteen hun-
dred and forty-three, chapter one hundred and thirty-seven,
as relates to the first section of the act of eighteen hundred
and thirty-eight, chapter sixty-seven, is hereby repealed,
and all other acts or parts of acts inconsistent with the
provisions of this act, are also hereby repealed.

 

CHAPTER 192.

Passed March
3, 1845.

An act to reduce the number of the Justices of the Levy
Court of Frederick County, and to divide the County
into Levy Court Districts for electing the same.

Continue in
office.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
