CHAPTER 113.

CHAP. 145.

A supplement to an act passed eighteen hundred and forty-
two, chapter two hundred and ninety-eight, entitled, an
act to incorporate the Hopewell Academy, in Montgo-
mery County.

28, 1845.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the second section of the act to which this
is a supplement, be and the same is hereby repealed.

Repealed.

Sec 2. And be it enacted, That the trustees named in
the first section of the act to which this is a supplement,
shall have power to fill all vacancies that may occur in
their own body, either by death, resignation, disqualifica-
tion or removal.

CHAPTER 144.

 

An act for the relief of William Newman, of Allegany
County.

Passed March

3, 1845.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the commissioners of Allegany county, are empow-
ed and authorised, to levy fifty dollars annually, on the
assessable property of said county, for the maintenance
and support of William Newman.

CHAPTER 145.

 

An ac fur the benefit of Hiram Athey.

28, 1845.

WHEREAS, it is represented to this General Assembly,
by the memorial of sundry citizens of Allegany county,
that the friends of Hiram Athey, a maniac, now in con-
finement in the alms house of said county, are desirous of
placing him in the hospital in Baltimore, and that they
are unable to do so for want of the necessary means—
Therefore,

Preamble.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the commissioners of Allegany county, be and they
are hereby authorised and directed, to levy upon the asses-
sable property of said county, a sum of money not to ex-
ceed one hundred dollars, for the benefit of Hiram Athey,
and for the purpose named in the preamble to this act.
