Books to be
lodged, &c.

IV. AND BE IT ENACTED, That the said James Cooke, before he derives any benefit from or
under this act, shall lodge a copy of his collection books in the clerk's office of Saint-Mary's county
to be opened for the inspection of all persons interested in the same.

CHAP. XI.

Passed 31st of
Dec. 1806.

A Supplement to an act, entitled, An act to lay out and open a pub-
lic road in Hopkin's Neck, in Talbot county.

Commissioners
appointed, &c.

BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That Henry Holliday, John Edmondson,
Perry Spencer, Edward Lloyd, James Nabb, or any three of them, be and they are herein
appointed commissioners, to survey, mark, bound and lay out, a public road, at the charge and ex-
pence of such petitioners as actually reside in said neck, not to exceed twenty feet wide, beginning
at or near Anthony Banning's gate, and from thence in such direction as the commissioners, or a
majority of them, may determine, until it intersects the main road leading from Easton to Hadda-
way's ferry; provided, that nothing herein contained. shall in any manner authorise the said com-
missioners to lay out or open the said road through the garden, yard, orchards or meadows, of any
person or persons, without his, her or their consent.

Part of a law
repealed.

II. AND BE IT ENACTED, That all and every part of the original law to which this is a supple
ment, which are contrary to the provisions hereof, are hereby repealed.

CHAP. XII.

A Further additional supplement to an act, entitled, An act to regulate
the inspection of tobacco.

Preamble.

WHEREAS by the original act, to which this is a further additional supplement, and the seve-
ral supplementary acts thereto, no provision is made authorising the governor and council to
fill the vacancies of inspectors occasioned by the death, resignation, or removal of any inspector or
inspectors out of the county for which the said inspector or inspectors were appointed; for remedy
whereof,

II. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That in case any inspector or inspectors
should die, resign, or remove out of the county for which the said inspector or inspectors were ap-
pointed, the governor and council are hereby authorised and required to supply the vacancy of such
inspector or inspectors, out of the nomination of such persons as are recommended by the levy
courts; provided, that the said person or persons, having assessed property in the state to the value
of eight hundred dollars, shall be well skilled in the curing and packing tobacco, and the order, qua-
lity and condition thereof, and well qualified and capable, from integrity, reputation and diligence,
to execute and discharge the office and duty of inspector; and provided also, that if the said per-
sons, so recommended, will not act as such, then and in such case the said governor and council are
hereby authorised and required to appoint and commission any other person or persons, qualified as
aforesaid.
CHAP. XIII.

An ACT to appoint and authorise commissioners to review and lay
out the road therein mentioned in Harford county.

Preamble.

WHEREAS by an act, entitled, An act to lay out, open and clear, a road in Harford county,
from a place known by the name of Darlington, to intersect a road leading from Belle-Air
to Havre-de-Grace, certain commissioners were appointed, to lay out a public road from a place
called Clark's Stole, and generally known by the name of Darlington, on the Rock Run road, and
thence by John Austin's mill, to intersect the main road leading from Belle-Air to Havre-de-Grace,
at or near a place called Stump's Old Fields: And whereas it is represented to this general assembly,
by the petition of a very large number of the inhabitants of said county, that the said road has not
been laid cut upon ground best calculated for the public convenience, and praying that commission-
ers may be by law appointed to review the said road; and the said prayer being reasonable, there-
fore,

II. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assembly of Maryland, That John Moores, Paca Smith and Wil-
liam Whiteford, be and they are hereby appointed commissioners of review, to review the road
directed to be laid out by the act, entitled, An act to lay out, open and clear, a road in Harford
county, from a place known by the name of Darlington, to intersect the read leading from Belle-Air
