RESOLUTIONS assented to November Session, 1805.

RESOLVED, That the treasurer of the western shore advance to Frederick Green, printer to the state, the
sum of six hundred dollars, in part, of the salary which may be allowed him on the civil list for the ensuing year.

RESOLVED, That so soon as the ensuing instalment of the two hundred thousand dollars, loaned by this state-
for the use of the city of Washington, shall have been paid, the treasurer of the western shore be and he is.
hereby authorised and required to subscribe, on the behalf of this state, for so many of the shares in the Far-
mers Bank of Maryland, reserved for the state, as the said instalments shall amount to, and immediately to pay
to the president. and, directors of the Farmers Bank, of Maryland the amount of the shares so subscribed.

RESOLVED, That the treasurer of western shore be and he is hereby directed to purchase fifty-seven co-
pies of the Magistrate's Guide and Citizen's Counsellor, published by John B. Colvin, and to pay the amount
thereof out of any unappropriated money in the treasury.
RESOLVED, That the governor and council cause the said books to be forwarded and distributed as follows:
To the place of holding the county court of each county, three copies, one for the county court, one for the
orphans court, and. one. for the. levy court of each county.

RESOLVED, That the trustees of Easton Academy be permitted, and they are hereby authorised and empow-
ered, to suspend the renewal of their contracts with their professors, after the expiration of their present terms,
and to apply the annual donation of the legislature to the erection of a suitable building, for the term of three
years from and after the first day of June next, and no longer.

RESOLVED, That John Brook Beall, late sheriff of Allegany county, be and he is hereby released from the
payment of the nine per cent, additional interest imposed on him and arising on a balance of sixty-nine pounds
ten shillings, late a debt due to, this state from him as former sheriff of said county.

RESOLVED, That the balance now due on the bond of Philip Key, of Saint-Mary's, to this state, dated on
or about the twentieth day of November, eighteen hundred and four, for the sum of six hundred and twenty-
nine pounds two shillings and five-pence current money, be and the same is hereby directed to be paid in the
following manner, to wit: One half of the balance now due on said bond, together with interest thereon from
the twentieth day of September, eighteen hundred and five, to be paid on or before the twentieth day of Octo-
ber, eighteen hundred. and six, and the balance then due, on said bond, together with interest thereon from the

twentieth day of October, eighteen hundred and six, to be paid on or before the twentieth day of October,
eighteen hundred. and seven, and that no proceedings be had on said bond to recover the money thereby due,
until the times for which the payment thereof, as hereby fixed, shall have elapsed.

RESOLVED, That all proceedings against Thomas Jackson and Henry Haskins, and their securities, on judge-
ments obtained by this. state against them for the purchase money due this state on the fourth and last instal-
ment of the Choptank Indian lands, be and the same are hereby suspended and stayed until the twentieth day
of April, eighteen, hundred and seven.

RESOLVED, That all proceedings be stayed on a judgment obtained against John Smith Brookes, of Prince-
George's county, at the suit of the state, until the first day of December next, on his paying up all the interest
due thereon; provided, that nothing herein contained shall preclude the state from issuing any execution on the
said judgment, after the expiration of the said stay, for the recovery of such sum or sums of money as shall or
way be due thereon.

Whereas the proprietary debt books deposited in. the council chamber, have received considerable injury from
time and use, and some of the indexes thereto have been lost, and others impaired and mutilated: And whereas
it would, greatly tend to the future preservation of the said debt books that the same should be well bound, un-
der the direction of the executive; RESOLVED, That the clerk of the council be and he is hereby required, un-
der the direction of tire governor and council, carefully to examine such of the indexes to the said debt books
as now remain, and to complete the same where they shall appear to be deficient, and to make cut and supply
proper indexes where the original. indexes have been lost, and to cause the said debt books and indexes, when
so completed, to be bound up in a strong, convenient and sufficient manner; and the governor and council are
hereby authorised and requested to allow and pay to the said clerk of the. council such compensation, for the
service hereby required of him as they shall think reasonable and just.
RESOLVED, That the said debt books, when so completed, shall continue to remain in the council chamber,
under the care of the clerk of the council, and that a copy from them, certified and proved in the manner that
is directed in other cases by the act of November session, seventeen hundred and ninety-eight, chapter one
hundred and eight, shall be received as evidence in any court of justice of this state.
