996 LAWS OF MARYLAND [CH. 526

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland,
That Section 210 of the Anne Arundel County
Code (1947 Edition), being Article 2 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland, title "Anne Arundel County",
sub-title "Circuit Court", be and it is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

210. The Judges of the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel
County are hereby authorized to appoint a Court Stenog-
rapher and typist and an Assistant Court Stenographer
and typist,
for said Court, to serve for such time as may be
designated by the Court, [who] and each of them shall be
a sworn officer of the Court. The Court Stenographer and
typist and the Assistant Court Stenographer and typist so
appointed shall perform such duties as may be designated
by the Court [as said] including the duties as stenographer
and typist; and also to [take] make full stenographic notes
of all testimony [given] in equity causes, including those
causes heard
before any of the standing examiners of said
Court and to transcribe and typewrite said evidence to be
filed in said cause, unless the Court shall by its order
direct or permit said testimony to be taken down and
transcribed by a special or private stenographer, said
testimony so taken to be paid for by the party ordering the
same; and it shall be the duty of [said] the Court Stenog-
rapher and Assistant Court Stenographer to furnish in
any case, either at Law or Equity, upon request of any
party to any proceeding, copies of the evidence taken, upon
payment by the party or parties ordering the same of the
usual rates for the same, said rates to be fixed by the Order
of the Court. In addition to the duties as stenographer
and typist, the Assistant Court Stenographer and typist
shall perform the duties of an assistant Bar Librarian, the
duties to be such as shall be prescribed by the Court.
[The
County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County are hereby
directed to levy annually the sum of Eighteen Hundred
Dollars ($1, 800) for the payment of the salary of said
Court Stenographer so appointed by the Court. ] The
County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County are hereby
authorized and directed to levy such sum or sums as they
shall fix as the salaries of the Court Stenographer and the
Assistant Court Stenographer so appointed by the Court.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1953.
