AN ACT to add a new section and sub-title to the Laws of
Harford County (1942 Edition), being Article 13 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition),
said new section to be known as Section 434A, under
the new sub-title "Pawnbrokers", to follow immediately
after Section 434, requiring pawnbrokers in Harford
County to keep and forward to the Sheriff of Harford
County a daily list of articles taken on pledge, and pro-
viding a penalty for violation thereof.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That a new section and sub-title be and it is
hereby added to the Laws of Harford County (1942 Edi-
tion), being Article 13 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland (1930 Edition), said new section to be known
as Section 434A, under the new sub-title "Pawnbrokers",
to follow immediately after Section 434, and to read as
follows:
PAWNBROKERS
434A. (a) Each and every pawnbroker, doing business
in Harford County shall cause to be written in a legible
and accurate manner on forms supplied by the Sheriff of
Harford County, and a list of articles taken on pledge and
to forward the same daily to the Sheriff of Harford County.
The above reports made to the Sheriff shall be open to the
inspection of such persons as, in the discretion of the said
Sheriff, may be regarded as having an interest in the same.
In preparing the said list, the following instructions,
shall be strictly adhered to:
(1) All articles, such as guns, pistols, typewriters, micro-
scopes, bicycles, etc., shall be reported by the maker's name
and number, together with any initials, inscriptions, or
any peculiar distinguishing marks or characteristics.
(2) Diamonds and other precious stones shall be de-
scribed by giving the approximate weight of the stone, style
of mounting, whether lady's or gentleman's ring, the num-
