ing appointment of an Assistant State's Attorney and a
Special Assistant State's Attorney.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 40 (i) of Article 10 of the An-
notated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Attorneys
at Law and Attorneys in Fact", sub-title "State's At-
torney, " be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, and that a new sub-section be and it is hereby
added to said Section 40, said new sub-section to be known
as Sub-section (j-1), to follow immediately after Sub-
section (j) thereof, and all to read as follows:
40.
(i). The State's Attorneys of [Anne Arundel and] Prince
George's [Counties] County shall [each] receive an annual
salary of $5, 000. 00. In Prince George's County the State's
Attorney is authorized and empowered to appoint a Deputy
State's Attorney who shall receive an annual salary of
$3, 600. 00 and an Assistant State's Attorney who shall re-
ceive an annual salary of $2, 500. 00.
(j-1). The State's Attorney of Anne Arundel County
shall receive an annual salary of $7, 500. 00. The State's
Attorney is hereby authorized and empowered to appoint
an Assistant State's Attorney who shall receive an annual
salary of not less than $3, 600. 00. In special cases, the
Judge of the Circuit Court of Anne Arundel County may ap-
point a Special Assistant State's Attorney, whose com-
pensation shall be set by the Court.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted. That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1953, but shall not apply to the present
incumbent.
