SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That two new sections be and they are hereby
added to Title 11 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Baltimore County (1948 Edition), being Article 3 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition),
title "Baltimore County, " title "Health and Sanitation, "
to be under the new sub-title "Public Bathing Beaches, "
said new sections to be known as Sections 155A and 155B
of said title and to follow immediately after Section 155
thereof, and all to read as follows:
PUBLIC BATHING BEACHES
155A. (Requirement of Life-Guards at Public Bathing
Beaches) The Board of County Commissioners of Balti-
more County may, in their discretion, require the presence
of life-guards at any public bathing beach in Baltimore
County during the hours that said beach is open to the
public. The total number of life-guards so required at any
one beach shall be in the discretion of the Board of County
Commissioners, but each beach in Baltimore County must
maintain at least one life-guard.
155B. (Definitions) As used in Section 155A of this
title:
(a) The term "Public Bathing Beach" shall mean any
beach) river, stream, quarry or swimming pool, either
artificial or natural, admission to which is charged to the
public.
(b) The term "Life-Guard" shall mean any person who
is the holder of a current Senior Life-Saving Certificate
issued by the American Red Cross.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1953.
