June, a president of the college, who shall by virtue of his
office be a member of the Visitors and Governors; of the
twenty-four members so elected or appointed, one shall be
elected by the alumni and one shall be appointed by the
Governor from each of the nine counties on the Eastern
Shore of Maryland, and three shall be elected by the alumni
and three shall be appointed by the Governor from any
territory in or out of the State of Maryland, saving and
excepting the nine counties on the Eastern Shore of Mary-
land.

(b). The twenty-five members of the Visitors and Gov-
ernors of Washington College chosen as provided in sub-
section (a) of this section, or a quorum thereof, are author-
ized and empowered in their discretion to elect twelve (12)
additional members, or any lesser number, who may be
chosen without regard to their places of residence. Not
more than two persons may be elected or re-elected for full
terms as such in any calendar year.

(c). The term of office of the members of the Visitors
and Governors of Washington College shall be six years;
provided, however, that in order to establish overlapping
terms of office for the members, of the nine members from
the counties of the Eastern Shore of Maryland and three
members at large first appointed by the Governor of said
State under the provisions of this amendment to the
charter of said college, three members from the counties
of the Eastern Shore and one member at large shall be
appointed for a term of two years; three members from
the counties on the Eastern Shore and one member at
large shall be appointed for a term of four years; and three
members from the counties on the Eastern Shore and one
member at large shall be appointed for a term of six years;
and likewise of the nine members from the counties on the
Eastern Shore of Maryland and three members at large,
first elected by the alumni of Washington College, under
the provision of this amendment to the charter of Wash-
ington College, three members from the counties on the
Eastern Shore and one member at large shall be elected
for a term of two years; three members from the counties
on the Eastern Shore and one member at large shall be
elected for a term of four years; three members from the
counties on the Eastern Shore and one member and one
member at large shall be elected for a term of six years;
their successors in each case thereafter to be appointed or
elected, as the case may be, for a term of six years, so
that each two years four members shall be appointed and
four members elected to said office for a term of six years
