and other monies of and due to the Town of Carrollton.
He shall deposit all town funds coming into his hands,
together with all interest thereon in such depository as
the Mayor and Council may select. The Treasurer shall
make all disbursements of Town funds and shall not dis-
burse or dispose of any of the Town funds coming into
his hands as such except by check duly signed by him as
Treasurer and countersigned by the Mayor, pursuant to
resolution of the Mayor and Council.
Whenever the Mayor and Council shall levy a tax they
shall cause to be made an alphabetical list of persons
charged therewith and shall affix thereto the respective
sums to be collected from such persons and a warrant to
the Treasurer to collect the same. The Treasurer shall
within ten days after receipt of such list, render to such
persons named therein an account or tax bill showing the
amount due by them.
The said Treasurer shall receive such compensation for
the discharge of his duties and such expense allowances
as the Mayor and Council may determine.
SEC. 9. And be it further enacted, That the Mayor and
Council may appoint and fix the compensation of one or
more police officers from time to time as they may deem
necessary to carry out the provisions of this Charter. Such
officers shall preserve the peace, enforce all ordinances,
serve all notices and processes, and perform such other
lawful duties as the Mayor and Council shall direct, and
for these purposes the said officers are hereby vested with
the same powers as are now possessed by the members of
the Prince George's County Police Force, within the boun-
daries of the City of Carrollton, and in addition thereto,
they shall have the authority to transport persons arrested
to the nearest committing Magistrate in and for Prince
George's County, and thence to the nearest place of com-
mitment, as directed by said Magistrate.
SEC. 10. And be it further enacted, That the Mayor
and Council shall have the same power as the State Board
of Health, within the corporate limits of the said Town,
and may pass such ordinances as it may deem necessary
for the preservation of the health of the residents of the
Town and remove all nuisances from, and prohibit all
business within the corporate limits thereof, as shall in
its opinion affect the sanitary conditions thereof.
The Mayor and Council may appoint a health officer
for the Town in the same manner as other appointments
