in each precinct in Baltimore City shall make a house-to-
house canvass of the voters thereof, on the third Monday
in [May] January in each of said years. They shall check
such voters against a list of them to be furnished the said
judges by the Board of Election Supervisors of Baltimore
City. They may make such canvass as a group, or they
may by agreement among themselves divide the precinct
and each make a canvass for a portion of the precinct.
They shall report to the Board of Supervisors as a group,
noting beside each name on the list of voters whether
each voter respectively is "Present", "Moved", or "De-
ceased". Said list shall forthwith be sent to the Board of
Supervisors, and the Board shall then proceed to correct
the said registration lists in the manner provided in
Section 33 of this sub-title. Each judge of elections shall
be paid at the rate of one day's remuneration for par-
ticipating in the said house-to-house canvass of the voters.
(b) At least ten days prior to [May 3] January 15 in
the year [1950] 1954 and in every second year thereafter,
the Police Commissioner of Baltimore City shall require
the members of the Police Department to make a house
to house canvass of the inhabitants of the City of Balti-
more over twenty-one years of age, and to report to the
Board of Election Supervisors of said City, by precincts,
the list of all such inhabitants, on forms to be supplied by
the Board in a manner to be specified by the Board.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1953.
