than fifty dollars for each such offense. Nothing in this
section shall be construed to prevent the owner or operator
of any such common carrier from making a special agree-
ment with the person who engaged and accepted transpor-
tation, for the subsequent payment of the charges due.
This section shall be effective only in Baltimore and Fred-
erick Counties.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1953.

(Senate Bill 226)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sections
33 and 34 of Article 33 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1951 Edition), title "Elections", sub-title "Regis-
tration", providing that the canvass conducted by the
Judges of Election in Baltimore City shall be held on
the third Monday in January, further providing that
the Board of Supervisors of Elections shall notify per-
sons who are marked "Moved" within thirty (30) days.
and providing that the canvass conducted by the Police
Commissioner of Baltimore City shall be held at least
ten (10) days prior to January 15 in each second year.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 33 and 34 of Article 33 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Elections", sub-
title "Registration", be and they are hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
33. Whenever the Board of Supervisors of Elections
of Baltimore City shall determine that any precinct in
Baltimore City is in need of a detailed check for the pur-
pose of correcting the registration lists of such precinct,
it shall deliver to one or more of its clerks a copy or copies
of the corrected precinct registration lists of the last pre-
