340. They shall have power to provide for the payment
of the damages and expenses of opening, widening, laying
out, grading, improving and keeping in good condition the
streets, lanes and alleys in said town, and for such an
amount as may from time to time be deemed necessary
for corporate purposes, by levying and assessing the same
generally upon the whole of the assessable property of
said town; provided, that the taxes for all purposes shall
not exceed forty cents on every one hundred dollars worth
of taxable property in any one year, which taxes shall be
collected by such person as the said Commissioners may
see fit to appoint [, who may enforce the payment of said
town taxes in the same manner and with like effect as
collectors of State and county taxes may enforce the pay-
ment of State and county taxes]; and the said Commis-
sioners shall fix the term of office, amount of bond and
compensation of such collectors.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That Sections 347
and 348 of said Article and sub-title be and they are hereby
repealed.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1953.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
363 of Article 8 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Cecil County", sub-title
"Port Deposit", modifying the provisions of said section
as to the power of arrest without a warrant.
