(1943 Edition), being Article 17 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland, title "Prince George's County", sub-
title "Fire Companies", said new section to be known as
Section 603A, to follow immediately after Section 603 of
said Code, and to read as follows:
603A. (a) There shall be levied and assessed an annual
fire tax in the amount of Twelve Cents upon each One Hun-
dred Dollars of the assessed valuation of the real and
personal property within that portion of the 17th (Chillum)
Election District, as constituted on January 1, 1953,
bounded by New Hampshire Avenue, the south side of
Ethan Alien Avenue, the Takoma Park City boundary line,
and the District of Columbia-Maryland State line, but not
including property within any incorporated area.
(b) The proceeds of the fire tax collected each tax-year
after this Act becomes effective shall be disbursed by the
appropriate officer of Prince George's County to the City of
Takoma Park, Maryland, for the exclusive use of the
Municipal Fire Department of that municipality, as full
payment by the unincorporated areas of the 17th (Chillum)
Election District of Prince George's County, in return for
the City of Takoma Park providing complete fire protection
and rescue-ambulance service within the portion of said
election district described in Sub-section (a).
(c) The fire tax assessments provided by this Act shall be
effective commencing July 1, 1953, and shall be charged
against the properties concerned for the taxable year 1953.
(d) The provisions of this Act shall be effective notwith-
standing the provisions of Chapter 45 of the Acts of 1953.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1953.
