8 of said Code, title "Cecil County", sub-title "Circuit
Court", sub-heading "Court Stenographer"; Sections 132
and 134 of Article 15 of said Code, title "Kent County",
sub-title "Circuit Court", sub-heading "Court Stenog-
rapher"; Sections 174A and 176 of Article 18 of said Code,
title "Queen Anne's County", sub-title "Circuit Court",
sub-heading "Court Stenographer"; and Sections 57 and
59 of Article 21 of said Code, title "Talbot County", sub-
title "Circuit Court", sub-heading "Court Stenographer",
be and they are hereby repealed and that three new sec-
tions be and they are hereby added to Article 26 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title
"Courts", said new sections to be known as Sections 43A,
43B and 43C, to follow immediately after Section 43 of
said Article, to be under the new sub-title "Circuit Courts
for the Counties—Court Stenographers", and to read as
follows:
Circuit Courts for the Counties—Court Stenographers
43A. The Judges of the Second Judicial Circuit of this
State are hereby authorized and empowered to employ a
competent stenographer to serve in the respective courts
of said circuit.
43B. The salary of said stenographer shall be Six
Thousand Dollars ($6, 000. 00) per year from the first day
of June, 1953. The County Commissioners of Caroline,
Cecil, Kent, Queen Anne's and Talbot Counties shall each
pay One Thousand Two Hundred Dollars ($1, 200. 00) to-
wards their sum. Said payments shall be made in quar-
terly installments from the first day of July, 1953. The
sum of Six Thousand Dollars ($6, 000. 00) per year shall
constitute salary and re-imbursements for traveling and
other expenses.
43C. The stenographer appointed under this sub-title
shall serve for one year, and shall be removed at any time
for cause, and shall perform such duties as may be imposed
upon him by such judges of said court, or any of them.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That on July 1,
1953, said stenographer shall be paid for the months of
April and May, 1953, at the rate in force before this Act
takes effect, and for the month of June, 1953, at the rate
specified in this Act.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1953.
