SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1953.

CHAPTER 269
(Senate Bill 197)

AN ACT to repeal pud re-enact, with amendments, Section
225 of Article 23 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Wicomico County", sub-
title "Revenue and Taxes", sub-heading "County Treas-
urer", as said section was amended by Chapter 676 540
of the Acts of 1947, 1951 relating to the appointment
and compensation of the Deputy County Treasurer and
the employment and compensation of other clerk or
clerks.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 225 of Article 23 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Wicomico
County", sub-title "Revenue and Taxes", sub-heading
"County Treasurer", as said section was amended by
Chapter 676 540 of the Acts of 1947, 1951 be and it is
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:

225. The Treasurer shall appoint a deputy, who shall
perform such duties as said Treasurer shall require and
for whose official conduct said Treasurer shall be respon-
sible and who in the absence of the Treasurer shall act
in his place. Said deputy shall receive a salary of [Two
Thousand Four Hundred Dollars ($2, 400) TWENTY-
SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLARS ($2, 700)] Three Thou-
sand
DOLLARS ($3, 000) Dollars per annum, payable by
the County Commissioners of Wicomico County in monthly
installments for every year he or she may serve as such
deputy, or pro rata for a part thereof.

If it shall become necessary to employ other Clerk or
Clerks in said office, the Treasurer, by and with the con-
