If the numbers of votes cast "for" the amendment shall be
greater than the number cast "against" it, the amendment
made by Section 1 of this Act shall become effective April
1, 1954. If the number cast "against" the amendment is
equal to or greater than the number cast "for" it, the
amendment shall be of no effect and Section 104-6 (1297)
shall continue in force as though this Act had not been
enacted.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1953.

CHAPTER 242
(House Bill 501)
AN ACT to add a new section to Article 22 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Washington County", sub-title "County Commis-
sioners", said new section to be known as Section 166A
and to follow immediately after Section 166 of said
Article, providing for building permits NOTICE OF
BUILDING INTENTIONS in Washington County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That a new section be and it is hereby added to
Article 22 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1930 Edition), title "Washington County", sub-title
"County Commissioners", said new section to be known as
Section 166A and to follow immediately after Section 166
of said Article, and to read as follows:
166A. All persons, firms, or corporations, before erect-
ing, altering, or improving any building ANY NEW
BUILDING OR ANY ADDITION TO ANY EXISTING
BUILDING in Washington County, involving a total ex-
pense of One Thousand Dollars ($1, 000. 00) or more, shall
be required to submit the dimensions of the proposed build-
