CHAPTER 241
(House Bill 500)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments Section
104-6 of the Montgomery County Code (1951 Supple-
ment), being Article 16 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland, and Section 1297 of the Prince George's
County Code (1943 Edition), being Article 17 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, titles "Mont-
gomery County" and "Prince George's County", and sub-
titles "Takoma Park", as said sections were amended by
Chapter 89 of the Acts of 1951, providing for a veto
power for the Mayor of Takoma Park, and providing
for a referendum thereon.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 104-6 of the Montgomery County
Code (1951 Supplement), being Article 16 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland, and Section 1297 of the
Prince George's County Code (1943 Edition), being Article
17 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, titles
"Montgomery County" and "Prince George's County", and
sub-titles "Takoma Park", as said sections were amended
by Chapter 89 of the Acts of 1951, be and they are hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as fol-
lows:
104-6. (1297). a. The Council shall meet at some con-
venient place in said city on or before the fourth Monday
in April next succeeding their election, and as often there-
after as may be necessary to discharge the duties of their
office; not less, however, than once in every month. A
majority of the Council shall constitute a quorum for the
transaction of business, and the Council shall pass rules
and by-laws for their own government while in session;
upon a tie vote the vote of the Mayor shall be deciding.
[Any single action of the Council relative to the borrow-
ing of money or expenditures of $10, 000. 00 or more, receiv-
ing less than four affirmative votes, shall be submitted
to the Mayor for his approval; if he does not approve, it
shall not become effective until it does receive an affirma-
tive vote of four Council members. ]
