Law", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:
6. The Attorney General shall receive [such] a salary
of $12, 000. 00 per year [as shall be provided in the State
Budget. ]. He is authorized to appoint six assistants, one
of whom he shall designate and who shall be known as
Deputy Attorney General, two of whom shall be known as
Assistant Attorneys General, one of whom shall be known
as Special Assistant Attorney General for the Comptroller
of the Treasury, one of whom shall be known as Special
Assistant Attorney General of the State Roads Commission
and the other of whom shall be known as Special Attorney
for the State Accident Fund. The Attorney General is
also authorized to appoint such additional assistants,
special attorneys and law clerks as may from time to time
be authorized in the Budget. The Deputy Attorney Gen-
eral and all Assistant and Special Assistant Attorneys
General and special attorneys shall be practicing lawyers
of the State of Maryland in good standing, each of whom
shall hold his respective office during the pleasure of the
Attorney General and each of whom shall receive such
salary as shall be provided in the State Budget. All of
the salaries above provided shall be payable monthly. The
salary of the Special Assistant Attorney General for the
Comptroller of the Treasury shall be paid by the Comp-
troller of the Treasury, out of funds available to him for
administration of the collection of taxes. The salary of
the Special Assistant Attorney General for the State Roads
Commission shall be paid by the State Roads Commission
and the salary of the Special Assistant Attorney General
for the State Accident Fund shall be paid by the State
Accident Fund, as provided by the Budget Bill. The
Deputy Attorney General and the Assistant and Special
Assistant Attorneys General and the law clerks shall each
perform such duties as the Attorney General may from
time to time assign to them, and the Attorney General is
hereby authorized to assign to them and each of them
the performance, subject to his direction and control, of
any of the duties required of him by law.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the provisions of
this Act shall not apply to the present incumbent.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1953.
