Maryland (1951 Edition), title "County Commissioners",
sub-title "General Powers", be and the same is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, and to read as
follows:

(h) To prevent and remove nuisances; to prevent the
introduction of contagious diseases into the County; to
approve the location for the manufacturing of soap and
fertilizer; to approve the location of slaughter houses, pack-
ing houses, and all places which may involve or give rise
to unsanitary conditions or conditions detrimental to
health; and to provide by ordinance or regulation for the
prevention, control, or elimination of all nuisances or
causes of sickness and to establish penalties for the viola-
tion of the same, such penalties not to exceed Fifty Dollars
($50. 00) for each and every day such violation shall con-
tinue, provided, however, that nothing herein shall be con-
strued to affect in any manner any of the powers and
duties of the State Board of Health or any Public General
Law relating to the subject of health. Any violation of the
provisions of this sub-section or of any ordinance or regu-
lation made thereunder shall be deemed to be a misde-
meanor and upon conviction thereof shall be subject to
the penalties provided hereinabove.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1953.

(Senate Bill 291)

AN ACT to repeal Sub-section (h) of Section 38 of Article
87 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition),
title "Sheriffs", sub-title "Compensation and Duties",
and to enact in lieu thereof a new Sub-section (h) to
stand in the place and stead of the Sub-section so
repealed, providing for the annual salary of the Sheriff
of Charles County and relating generally to said Sher-
iff's duties and further providing for equipping the
Sheriff's office.
