SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article 12
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930
Edition), title "Garrett County", sub-title "Friendsville",
said new section to be known as Section 204A and to fol-
low immediately after Section 204 of said Article and to
read as follows:
204A. (a) The Mayor and Town Council of Friends-
ville shall appoint two citizens of Friendsville to conduct
a registration of all residents of Friendsville who have
resided within the corporate limits of Friendsville for a
period of six months before said registration. Said regis-
tration shall be conducted on the second and fourth Tues-
day in January, 1954, between the hours of 1 P. M. and
7 P. M. The two citizens so appointed shall sit for the
purpose of said registration in the office of the Mayor and
Town Council. Due notice of said registration shall be
given to the residents of Friendsville by publication in a
newspaper of general circulation at least four weeks and
three weeks prior to said registration and also by the post-
ing of notices at conspicuous places in said town. There-
. after, residents desiring to register shall register with the
Clerk to the Mayor and Town Council of Friendsville, but
no registration shall be made less than ten days prior to
any town election.
(b) No person who has not registered on the second or
fourth Tuesday in January, 1954, shall be entitled to vote
at the town election to be held in 1954.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1953.
