new section to follow immediately after Section 212
thereof, authorizing the town to pay pensions to certain
employees retired from active duty.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new Section 212A be and the same is hereby added
to Article 5 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1930 Edition), title "Calvert County", sub-title "North
Beach", said new section to follow immediately after Sec-
tion 212 thereof, and to read as follows:
212A. The Council is authorized and empowered to
provide for the payment of a pension to any employee
who has been retired by the town from active duty. Such
pension shall not exceed one hundred dollars ($100. 00)
per month for any one employee and no pension shall be
paid to any employee whose service and employment with
the town of North Beach was for a period less than
twenty-five years in length.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1953.

(Senate Bill 267)
AN ACT to repeal Section 96 (c) of Article 27 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title
"Crimes and Punishments", sub-title "Desertion of Wife
or Child", and to re-enact the provisions of said Section
without change, clarifying possible doubts as to the pro-
visions of said Section by reason of its having been
amended by three Acts in 1951.
WHEREAS, Section 96 (c) of the Code was amended by
Chapter 45, Chapter 46, and Chapter 680 of the Acts of
1951; and
WHEREAS, one of said Acts of 1951 included Garrett
County in an enumeration of Counties in which trial
magistrates have concurrent jurisdiction with Circuit
Courts; and
