RESULTS OF REFERENDUM VOTES


Constitutional Amendments


PROCLAMATION DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE ELECTION
OF NOVEMBER 4, 1952, FOR CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENTS

WHEREAS, the General Assembly of Maryland at its Jan-
uary Session of 1951 and its February Session of 1952,
enacted two Acts to wit: Chapter 199 of the Acts of 1951,
proposing an amendment to the Constitution of Maryland,
by adding a new article thereto, to follow immediately after
Article XIC, and to be known as Article XID, relating to
the acquisition and disposal of property by the Mayor and
City Council of Baltimore, for certain purposes, and Chapter
20 of the Acts of 1952, proposing an amendment to Article
III of the Constitution of Maryland, title "Legislative
Department" by proposing an amendment to Section 52
(4) (5), relating to the State Budget; and

WHEREAS, the said above recited Acts and each of them
provide for the submission of the same to the legal and
qualified voters of the State for their adoption or rejection,
at the election to be held on November 4, 1952; and

WHEREAS, at the election held on the day and date above
set forth, the said Acts and each of them were so submitted
to the legal and qualified voters of the State and from the
certified copies of the returns thereof, duly filed with me as
directed by the Constitution of the State, it appears that:

For the adoption of Chapter 20 aforesaid, 310, 808
votes were cast and against the adoption thereof, 70, -
877 votes were cast; and

For the adoption of Chapter 199, 276, 895 votes were
cast and against the adoption thereof, 97, 290 votes
were cast.

Now, THEREFORE, I, THEODORE R. MCKELDIN, GOVERNOR
OF MARYLAND, in pursuance of the authority and direction
contained in Section 1 of Article 14 of the Constitution of
Maryland, do by this my proclamation, hereby declare and
proclaim that the greatest number of votes having been
cast in favor of the above recited Chapters 20 and 199, and
