THEODORE R. MCKELDIN, GOVERNOR 1843


Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
Governor be and he is hereby requested to appoint a com-
mittee to study the possibility of developing Maryland in
order to attract more visitors from outside states; and be
it further


Resolved, That the said committee shall consist of one
representative from the Maryland Historical Society, one
representative from the Eastern Shore Society, one repre-
sentative from the Southern Maryland Society, one repre-
sentative from Western Maryland, one representative from
Central Maryland, one representative from the Senate of
Maryland, and one representative from the House of Dele-
gates; and be it further


Resolved, That said committee shall be requested to make
a report of its findings and recommendations to the General
Assembly at its regular session in February, 1954; and
be it further


Resolved, That the Secretary of State be and he is hereby
directed to send a copy of this resolution to the Governor
of Maryland.

(House Joint Resolution 17)

Joint Resolution requesting the Governor to appoint a Com-
mission to study the price structure and market facilities
for perishable farm products sold on Maryland markets.


WHEREAS, The production of perishable agricultural
products comprises a sizeable segment of Maryland's
economy, it is vital that the function of marketing be as
efficient as possible so as to prevent loss to farmers and
furnish consumers with an abundance of quality produce
at reasonable prices; and


WHEREAS, It is not unusual for gluts to depress prices
below the cost of production of perishables during the peak
