AN ACT to add a new section and sub-title to the Laws of
Harford County (1942 Edition), being Article 13 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Harford
County", to be known as Section 242A, to be under the
new sub-title "Explosives", and to follow immediately
after Section 242 thereof, making it unlawful to manu-
facture, compound, store or keep COMPOUND OR
STORE explosives in Harford County under certain con-
ditions, and providing for a penalty for violation thereof.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That a new section be and it is hereby added to
the Laws of Harford County (1942 Edition), being Article
13 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title
"Harford County", to be known as Section 242A, to be
under the new sub-title "Explosives", to follow immedi-
ately after Section 242 thereof, and to read as follows:

EXPLOSIVES

242A. (a) On and after September 1, 1953, it shall be
unlawful for any person, partnership, corporation or as-
sociation to manufacture, compound, store or keep COM-
POUND OR STORE fireworks or other explosives in Har-
ford County within five hundred (500) feet TWO HUN-
DRED (200) FEET ONE HUNDRED SEVENTY-FIVE
(175) FEET of any public highway or adjoining property
line; provided that any person, partnership, corporation
or association storing dynamite for retail sale may secure
a permit from the Sheriff of Harford County, authorizing
such storage, under such safety rules as the Sheriff may
prescribe.

(b) Any person, partnership, corporation or association
violating the provisions hereof shall be deemed to be main-
taining a public nuisance, and shall be guilty of a misde-
meanor and be subject to a fine not exceeding $1, 000. 00, and
each day such violation exists shall constitute a separate
offense.
