7 P. M. on the said days for the purpose of enrolling and
registering the qualified voters from their respective
wards, in such places as shall be designated by the Com-
missioners of Cambridge, and shall receive compensation,
in the sum of [five] ten dollars per day, for their services.
Said registration shall specify the name, age, color and
the residence of the voters on each street, lane or alley of
the town, and for this purpose the Supervisor of Elections
by and with the advice and consent of the Commissioners
of Cambridge, shall provide the necessary registration
books, suitable for said purpose. After the registration is
completed, the said books shall be returned by the said
officers of registration to the Supervisor of Elections at the
City Hall, who shall safely keep and preserve them; and
in every year after the year 1912, in the month of June,
and on the first Tuesday of said month and the Wednesday
following the said Tuesday, in the said month, the Super-
visor of Elections shall sit as an officer of registration, in
the City Hall or in some other centrally located and con-
venient place, for the purpose of revising the registration
books of the several wards and for transferring voters
from one ward to the other in case such voters have
changed their residence, and also for the purpose of adding
the names of new and qualified voters to the list of regis-
tration, and of striking off from said registry the names
of voters, known to be dead or proved to be dead to his
satisfaction, or who are known to have changed their place
of residence by removal, from the town of Cambridge or
by removing from one ward to the other, or names of
persons whose removal as aforesaid is proved to the satis-
faction of said officer. In case of any special election, the
registry lists, as revised at the preceding June revision
shall be used as evidence of the right of any person to vote.
The Supervisor of Elections shall have authority and is
empowered to appoint as officers of registration, several
assistants, not to exceed one for each ward, to conduct such
registration, each assistant to be paid the sum of [five]
ten dollars a day, and all officers of registration referred
to in this section, when qualifying, to be subject to and to
comply with the same provisions of law as do the clerks
and judges of election as set forth in Section 52 of this
Article. When sitting as an officer of registration the
Supervisor of Elections, and all officers of registration,
shall have power to administer an oath to every applicant
for registration and to any person, called as a witness to
tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth,
and any false swearing shall be perjury. The Commis-
sioners of Cambridge shall cause due advertisement of
