and Punishments", sub-title "Sabbath Breaking", said
new section to be known as Section 610C and to follow
immediately after Section 610B of said Article, author-
izing the exhibition of motion pictures on Sunday after
two (2. 00) o'clock P. M., within Caroline County, repeal-
ing all Public General and Public Local Laws inconsistent
therewith to the extent of any such inconsistency, and
providing for a referendum vote thereon.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland,
That a new section be and it is hereby added to
Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edi-
tion), title "Crimes and Punishments", sub-title "Sabbath
Breaking", said new section to be known as Section 610C,
to follow immediately after Section 610B of said Article,
and to read as follows:

610C. (a) Nothing contained in Sections 578 and 605
of this Article shall be construed to prohibit or make unlaw-
ful the exhibition of motion pictures after two (2. 00)
o'clock P. M. on Sunday in Caroline County, whether the
same be exhibited with or without a charge or admission
fee. The work or employment of any operator, ticket seller
or other employee or attendant in connection with such
exhibition, shall not be unlawful because performed on
Sunday. Provided, however, that nothing in this section
shall be construed to permit the exhibition of motion pic-
tures on Sunday between the hours of 6. 00 o'clock P. M.
and 8. 00 o'clock P. M.

(b) Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the
provisions of this section shall be deemed guilty of a mis-
demeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall be subject to a
fine of not more than One Hundred Dollars ($100. 00) for
each and every such violation.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That all laws or parts
of laws, whether Public General or Public Local Laws,
inconsistent with the provisions of this Act, be and they
are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted. That Sections 1 and
2 of this Act shall not become effective until they have
been submitted for adoption or rejection to the qualified
voters of Caroline County. On the third Tuesday in May,
1953, there shall be submitted to the legal and qualified
voters of Caroline County, the question whether the exhi-
bition of motion pictures on Sunday shall be authorized
as provided by Section 1 hereof in said county. The Super-
