SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Sub-section (c) of Section 38 of Article
87 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition),
title "Sheriffs", sub-title "Compensation and Duties", be
and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments,
to read as follows:
38.
(c) The Sheriff of Baltimore County shall receive an
annual salary TO BE FIXED BY THE COUNTY COM-
MISSIONERS OF BALTIMORE COUNTY BUT IN NO
EVENT TO BE LESS THAN FIVE THOUSAND DOL-
LARS ($5, 000) of [$5, 000] $6, 000. He shall appoint such
Deputies and at such compensation as may be approved by
the County Commissioners of said County and shall re-
ceive such sum for necessary expenses as shall be authorized
by the County Commissioners of said County. The payment
of such compensation and expenses shall be made from
the general funds of Baltimore County, in the same manner
as other general county disbursements are made.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1953.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
290 of Article 93 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1951 Edition), title "Testamentary Law, " sub-title
"Register of Wills, " relating to the attendance in office
of the Registers of Wills for Dorchester, Montgomery,
and Wicomico Counties.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 290 of Article 93 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Testamentary
Law, " sub-title "Register of Wills, " be and it is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:
290. He shall attend his office daily in person or by
deputy unless prevented by sickness, accident or necessity
