section was amended by Chapter 377 of the Acts of 1951,
be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:
289. The Bailiffs of the said Orphans' Court of Balti-
more City shall receive a salary of not less than $3, 080
$3, 675 nor more than [$4, 180] $4, 550 $4, 750 $4, 475 per an-
num, payable in monthly installments at the end of each and
every month by the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore,
said salary to be determined and certified to by the Judges
of the Orphans' Court of Baltimore City.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect January 1, 1954.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
422 of the Charter and Public Local Laws of Baltimore
City (1949 Edition), being Article 4 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Baltimore City", sub-title "Justices of the Peace and
Constables", relating to the compensation of the Chief
Police Magistrate and the Police Magistrates of Balti-
more City.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 422 of the Charter of Public Local
Laws of Baltimore City (1949 Edition), being Article 4 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition),
title "Baltimore City", sub-title "Justices of the Peace and
Constables", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, and to read as follows:
422. The Justices of the Peace selected to sit at a station-
house in the City of Baltimore and designated by the
Governor as the "Chief Police Magistrate of Baltimore
