to the County Commissioners. Said attorney may also be
paid additional fees in the discretion of said County Roads
Board for special services to it.
240. The said County Roads Board is hereby authorized
and empowered to employ such other personnel and to fix
their compensation and the manner of paying same as said
Board deems necessary to carry out its duties under [this
sub-title.
241. In addition to their salaries or compensation above
referred to, the members, appointees and employees of said
County Roads Board shall receive travelling expenses for
travel deemed necessary by the County Roads Board.
242. Whenever, during the effective period of the au-
thority hereby conferred upon said County Roads Board
and prior to the repeal of that authority, any specific au-
thority is conferred upon Wicomico County relating to the
public roads, bridges, drains, water courses, public land-
ings, culverts, ferries and curbs and gutters therein, it
shall be interpreted as vesting that authority in said County
Roads Board.
243. The said County Roads Board is hereby authorized
and empowered to borrow from time to time such sums of
money as it may deem necessary to carry out its duties
under this sub-title, but not to exceed Fifty Thousand Dol-
lars ($50, 000. 00) in the aggregate at any one time, and to
issue its notes or certificates of indebtedness as evidence
of said loan. Said money when borrowed shall be paid
into and out of and accounted for along with other regular
roads funds.
244. The County Commissioners of Wicomico County be
and they are hereby authorized and empowered, at such
time as jurisdiction over and control of the County roads
system of Wicomico County is returned to said County, to
purchase from the State Roads Commission of Maryland,
and said State Roads Commission is hereby authorized to
sell such road equipment as may by mutual agreement be-
tween them be determined to be available for sale and
necessary for continued use on the County roads system of
said County. Such equipment shall be purchased out of the
general funds of said County (and if funds are not avail-
able from the current year's budget, the County may bor-
row or use other funds temporarily for that purpose and
include the same in the next year's budget) at a fair and
