1656 LAWS OF MARYLAND [CH. 723

Liability:

341-76. No action shall be maintained and no claim shall
be allowed against the city for damages for any injury or
damage to persons or property unless, within sixty days
after the injury or damages were sustained, written notice
thereof setting forth the time, place, and cause of the
alleged damage, loss, injury, or death shall be presented
in person or by registered mail by the claimant, his agent
or attorney, or in case of death, by his executor or admin-
istrator, to the Clerk-Treasurer of the city.

Misdemeanors:

341-77. Every act done or omission within the city desig-
nated as a misdemeanor in this charter, by the public gen-
eral and public local laws as well or ordinances of the city,
shall be punishable upon conviction before any trial magis-
trate or in the Circuit Court for Anne Arundel County by
a fine not exceeding One Hundred Dollars ($100. 00) or
imprisonment for thirty days in the county jail, or both,
in the discretion of the court or trial magistrate. All
monies recovered by way of fines or penalties shall be the
money of the City of Glen Burnie and the costs shall belong
to Anne Arundel County. The party aggrieved shall have
the right of appeal as is now provided under the general
laws of the State. Where the act or omission is of a con-
tinuing nature and is persisted in, a conviction for a con-
tinuation of the offense subsequent to the first or any suc-
ceeding conviction shall be deemed separate and distinct
offenses.

Effect of Charter on Existing Local Laws:

341-78. All public local laws in effect at the time this
charter becomes effective, relating to or applicable to the
City of Glen Burnie, which are not inconsistent with the
provisions of this charter shall remain in effect until
changed or repealed by the General Assembly of Maryland
or in the manner provided in Sections
341-69 through
341-73 of this charter.

All public local laws, or parts thereof, inconsistent with
the provisions of this charter, be and the same are hereby
repealed to the extent of such inconsistency. Nothing con-
tained herein shall affect or restrict any control which the
State Board of Health is empowered by law to exercise in
any part of this State.
