every two years thereafter, the qualified voters of the town
shall elect a mayor to serve for a term of two years and
until his successor is duly elected and qualified. Also on
the fourth Monday in April, 1953, the qualified voters of the
town shall elect three (3) Commissioners, for a term of
two (2) years, expiring on the first Wednesday in May,
1955, and until their successors are duly elected and quali-
fied. The two (2) members of the Board of Commissioners
in office having one (1) year remaining to serve, after the
adoption of this Act, shall serve out their terms, which shall
expire on the first Wednesday in May 1954, and until their
successors are duly elected and qualified. On the fourth
Monday in April, 1954, the qualified voters of the town
shall elect two (2) commissioners. Thereafter on the fourth
Monday in April of each and every year the qualified voters
of the town shall elect the requisite number of commis-
sioners to serve for a term of two (2) years.
766F. Conduct of Elections. It shall be the duty of the
Board of Commissioners to appoint three (3) election
judges, designate an appropriate place or places for voting
and provide ballots and suitable ballot boxes. Spaces shall
be provided on the ballot for voters to vote for candidates
not listed thereon. The election judges shall keep the polls
open at least from 2 P. M. until 6 P. M., on election days
or for longer hours if the Board of Commissioners requires
it; however, these additional hours shall be determined
prior to the notice provided for in this sub-title and shall
be included in said notice. Within forty-eight hours after
the closing of the polls, the election judges shall determine
the vote cast for each candidate or question and shall certify
the results of the election to the Town Clerk, who shall
record the results in the minutes of the Board of Com-
missioners and shall notify the person elected of their
election. The person with the highest number of votes for
mayor shall be declared elected mayor. The persons with
the highest number of votes for commissioner shall be
declared elected commissioners.
766G. Vacancies. In case of a vacancy on the Board of
Commissioners for any reason, the Board of Commissioners
shall elect some qualified person to fill such vacancy for the
unexpired term. In case of a vacancy in the office of mayor
for any reason, the vice-president of the Board of Com-
missioners may continue to vote on all issues coming before
the Board of Commissioners. All vacancies in the Board of
Commissioners shall be filled by the favorable votes of a
majority of the remaining members of the Board of Com-
missioners. The result of any such vote shall be recorded
