line of Edmonston Avenue to a point opposite the northerly
line produced of Block 7, Gretta Addition to Riverdale;
thence westerly with the northerly line of Blocks 7 and 8
of Gretta Addition to the northwesterly corner of Lot 9,
Block 8; thence southerly with the present town boundary
to Riverdale Road, thence westerly with Riverdale Road
to the place of beginning.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That all of that por-
tion of the area annexed to the town of Riverdale described
in Section 1 of this Act lying west of the Anacostia River
Parkway is added to and made a part of the Second Ward
of the town and all of that portion east of the Anacostia
River Parkway, together with the area described in Sec-
tion 3 of this Act is added to and made a part of the Sixth
Ward of the town of Riverdale.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That the eastern
boundary of the town of Riverdale abutting on Edmonston
Avenue be changed from the western line of Edmonston
Avenue to the centerline thereof from points on a line pro-
jected across said avenue coinciding with the northern and
southern limits of the town.
SEC. 4. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, THAT
THE ENGINEERING AND RESEARCH CORPORATION
SHALL PAY THE SUM OF $2, 500 TO THE TOWN OF
RIVERDALE IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER TAXES DUE
FROM SAID CORPORATION TO THE TOWN OF
RIVERDALE.
SEC. 4 5. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1953, SUBJECT TO THE CONDITIONS
AND LIMITATIONS UPON THE REFERENDUM OF THE
RESIDENTS OF THE AREA AS PROVIDED IN THIS
SECTION. A REFERENDUM UPON THE QUESTION
OF ANNEXATION SHALL BE HELD ON THE 2ND
MONDAY OF SEPTEMBER 1953, IN ALL OF THE AREA
DESCRIBED BY THIS ACT SAVE THAT EMBRACED IN
PARCELS 1 AND 2 IN THE DEED FROM HENRY A.
BERLINER AND JOSEPHINE M. BERLINER, HIS WIFE,
TO ENGINEERING AND RESEARCH CORPORATION,
A CORPORATION DULY ORGANIZED AND EXISTING
UNDER THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF MARYLAND,
BY DEED DATED MARCH 14, 1947 AND RECORDED
IN THE LAND RECORDS OF PRINCE GEORGE'S
COUNTY, MARYLAND, IN LIBER 893, FOLIO 28. IN
SUCH REFERENDUM ALL PERSONS TWENTY-ONE
