the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title
"Bills of Exchange and Promissory Notes", sub-title "Legal
Holidays", and to read as follows:
11A. Notwithstanding any of the provisions of Sec-
tions 9 and 11 of this sub-title, any banking institution in
Allegany and Garrett Counties as determined by a resolu-
tion of its Board of Directors may elect to remain open
for business on any day of the year except Sundays, New
Year's Day, Good Friday, the thirtieth day of May, com-
monly called Decoration Day. the fourth day of July,
Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas. Any day
which but for the action of the Board of Directors of any
bank would be a legal holiday shall not be a legal holiday
for that bank-institution. All laws concerning legal holi-
days shall apply or not apply to any banking institution
acting under the provisions of this section according to the
action of its Board of Directors in declaring such day to
be or not to be a legal holiday.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1953.

(Senate Bill 447)
AN ACT to repeal Chapter 4 of the Acts of the Special
Session of 1949; and to authorize and empower the
County Commissioners of Calvert County to borrow
upon the faith and credit of said County an amount or
amounts not exceeding Three Hundred Thousand Dol-
lars ($300, 000. 00), and to issue bonds therefor, for the
purpose of defraying unpaid obligations incurred in the
construction, remodeling and altering and expanding
facilities of public schools in Calvert County, and/or
repaying to funds from which they were advanced
amounts heretofore expended for such purposes, and
for the completion of the construction, alteration, remod-
