of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title
"Public Education, " said new section to be known as
Section 12A, to follow immediately after Section 12 there-
of and to be under the sub-title "Chapter 2. Formation of
Boards, " and to read as follows:
12A. The six members of the County Board of Educa-
tion of Carroll County shall be divided equally between
members of that political party which in the latest guber-
natorial election received a majority of the votes cast in
the State of Maryland and of that political party which
received the second highest number of votes in that election.
SEC. 2. Nothing in this Act shall be construed as affect-
ing the term or tenure of any member of the County Board
of Education of Carroll County holding such position as
of June 1, 1953. The provisions of this Act shall be given
effect in appointments made to the said Board after June
1, 1953, in order that the political representation of the
said Board shall be as provided in this Act at the earliest
possible time thereafter.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this act shall
take effect June 1, 1953.

(Senate Bill 219)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
6 of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1951 Edition), title "Public Education", sub-title "For-
mation of Boards", and to add a new section to said
Article, said new section to be known as Section 12A
and to follow immediately after Section 12 of said
Article, providing that the County Board of Education
of St. Mary's County shall consist of five persons and
placing certain qualifications upon said persons.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
