of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title
"Clerks of Court", sub-title "General Duties of Clerks", be
and it is hereby repealed, and that Sub-section (j) of said
section be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:

24.

(j) The [Clerk of the Circuit Court of St. Mary's
County] Clerks of the Circuit Courts of Allegany and St.
Mary's Counties
shall be entitled to receive an annual salary
of $5, 400.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1953.

CHAPTER 581
(House Bill 908)

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 35 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Evidence",
sub-title "Competency of Witnesses", said new section
to be known as Section 5B, of said Article, to, follow im-
mediately after Section 5A thereof, making admissible
certain evidence in Wicomico County in prosecutions for
violations of the alcoholic beverage laws.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland,
That a new section be and it is hereby added to
Article 35 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951 Edi-
tion), title "Evidence", sub-title "Competency of Wit-
nesses", said new section to be known as Section 5B, of said
Article, to follow immediately after Section 5A thereof, and
to read as follows:

5B. No evidence in the trial of misdemeanors shall be
deemed admissible where the same shall have been procured
by, through or in consequence of any illegal search or
seizure or of any search and seizure prohibited by the
