and collected, and the payment thereof shall be enforced
in the same manner as payment of other City taxes is
enforced.
SEC. 7. And be it further enacted, That this Act is
hereby declared to be an emergency measure and necessary
for the immediate preservation of the public health and
safety and having been passed by a yea and nay vote, sup-
ported by three-fifths of all the members elected to each
of the two Houses of the General Assembly of Maryland,
the same shall take effect from the date of its passage.

(Senate Bill 181)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
109A of Article 9 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Charles County, " sub-
title "Fire Companies, " as said section was amended by
Chapter 187 of the Acts of 1951, relating to the distri-
bution of funds to Volunteer Fire Departments in
Charles County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 109A of Article 9 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Charles County, "
sub-title "Fire Companies, " as said section was amended
by Chapter 187 of the Acts of 1951, be and it is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:
109A. The County Commissioners of Charles County are
authorized to levy on the assessable property of said
county for the calendar year 1951 and annually thereafter
the sum of $3, 000, which shall be distributed and paid by
said Commissioners to the several volunteer fire companies
in said county for the support, maintenance, equipment
and operation of said volunteer companies for the purpose
