by the Department of Motor Vehicles shall be sold at a
price not less than their cost.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 40 of Article 66 1/2 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Motor Vehicles,"
sub-title "Administration—Registration—Titling," be and
it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:
40. (Department to Issue Registration Bulletins.) The
Department shall compile and publish in books or bulletins
a list of all registered vehicles and shall thereafter compile
and publish supplements thereto. The list of registered
vehicles shall be arranged serially according to the regis-
tration numbers assigned to registered vehicles and shall
contain in addition the names and addresses of registered
owners and a brief description of each vehicle including
the engine, serial or other identifying number thereof.
Copies of such lists may be furnished free of charge to
public officials of the State, to the police departments of all
the counties and municipalities of the State and to the
offices of the sheriffs and County Commissioners of the
several counties in the discretion of the Department which
may also furnish copies of such lists to all other persons
applying for the same at a price not [exceeding Fifty
Dollars ($50.00) per year] less than the cost of such lists
to the State.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1954.
