To the Clerk of the Court of Appeals:
I, JOHN R. REEVES, SECRETARY OP STATE OF THE STATE OP
MARYLAND, pursuant to the direction contained in Section
210 of Article 33 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1951
Edition) DO HEREBY CERTIFY, That at a. Special Referendum
Election held in the Town of Laurel, Prince George's County,
Maryland, Monday, October 19, 1953, an Act known a&
Chapter 564 of the Acts of the General Assembly of Mary-
land of 1953, was submitted to the voters of the Town of
Laurel, Prince George's County, for their adoption or re-
jection under the provisions of Chapter 564 of the Acts of
the General Assembly of 1953, said Act being as follows:
"An Act to authorize the Mayor and City Council of
Laurel to borrow up to $55,000 to provide a mu-
nicipal building".
AND I DO CERTIFY, That at such election 240 votes were
cast in favor of the adoption of Chapter 564 of the Acts of
the General Assembly of 1953 and 272 votes were cast
against the adoption of the said Act, and a majority of the
votes being cast against the adoption of Chapter 564 of the
Acts of the General Assembly of 1953, the same has, there-
fore, failed of ratification by the voters of the Town of
Laurel, Prince George's County.
