CHAPTER 76
(House Bill 27)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
453 of Article 43 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1951 Edition), title "Health", sub-title "Chiropody",
amending the definition of the word "chiropody" for the
purposes of said sub-title.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That Section 453 of Article 43 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Health", sub-title
"Chiropody", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:
453. Chiropody as defined by this sub-title is the diag-
nosis, surgical, medical or mechanical treatment of all ail-
ments of the human foot [, except the correction of de-
formities requiring the use of the knife, amputation of the
foot or toes or the use of an anesthetic other than local],
The term "surgical TREATMENT" is defined for the pur-
poses of this sub-title as limited to the CUTTING OR SUR-
GERY PERFORMED ON THE soft tissues of the foot,
superficial to the deep fascia, and to the toes; with the
amputation of a toe or toes and the use of an anesthetic,
other than local, prohibited.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1954.

(House Bill 29)
AN ACT to repeal Section 64 of Article 17 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1951 Edition), title "Clerks of
Courts", sub-title "Clerks of Circuit Courts", and to
enact a new Section 64 in lieu thereof, said new section
to stand in the place and stead of the section so repealed,
