the State and for fire engines and other fire department
emergency apparatus, including ambulances operated by or
in connection with any fire department, and for ambu-
lances held for the use of the public and owned by any
bona fide unit of a national veterans' organization, and for
ambulances owned and used by any Maryland chapter of
the American Red Cross, and for all motor vehicles acquired
for re-sale by any registered new or used car dealer from
non-residents who are from states whose laws do not re-
quire title registration, shall be exempt from the tax im-
posed by this section.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1954.

AN ACT to authorize the creation of a State Debt in the
aggregate amount of Nino Million Nine Hundred Ninety
Fire Thousand Dollars ($9,995,000) SEVEN MILLION
EIGHT HUNDRED AMP FORTY NINE THOUSAND
gIS HUNDRED DOLLARS ($7,819,600) SEVEN
MILLION EIGHT HUNDRED SIXTY-FOUR THOU-
SAND SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS ($7,864,600), the
proceeds thereof to be used for certain necessary build-
ing, construction, deferred maintenance, and equipment
purposes of this State, for acquiring certain land and
providing generally for the issue and sale of Certificates
of Indebtedness evidencing such loan.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That the Board of Public Works is hereby au-
thorized and directed to issue a State loan to be known as
the "General Construction Loan of 1954", in the aggregate
sum of Nino Million Nine Hundred Ninety Kro Thousand
Dollars ($9,995,000) SEVEN MILLION EIGHT HUN-
DRED ANP FORTY NINE THOUSAND SIS HUNDRED
DOLLARS ($7,819,600) SEVEN MILLION EIGHT HUN-
