expense as assessed fry said Commissioners of Denton shall be
due and payable within ten days after said streets shall have
been
completed,, built or improved along said abutting property
and said costs and expenses as assessed aforesaid shall be a lien
upon said abutting property, and interest shall be chargeable on
said assessment from the time same
is due and payable, and all
assessments that are not paid when due aforesaid shall be
collectible by an action at law.

151. All public local laws and all ordinances and by-laws,
assessments and charges, of the Town of Denton or relating
thereto, now in force, and not inconsistent with this sub-title,
shall be and they are hereby continued in effect until amended
or repealed.

152. All officers provided for or named in the Charter of
Denton, or any amendments thereto, as it now stands before
the passage of this sub-title, whether by election or appoint-
ment, shall continue to hold, exercise and discharge the duties
of their respective offices until their successors shall be duly
qualified and nothing contained in this sub-title shall be con-
strued to interfere with the continuity of the terms or tenure
of said officers; nor shall the reappointment or re-election of
any of said officers be necessary in order to secure the said
continuity of their said terms and tenures of office unless other-
wise provided in this sub-title.

153. Any suit, action or proceeding now pending shall not
abate by reason of the passage of this sub-title.

159. The Commissioners of Denton in addition to the tax
herein provided for shall levy an additional tax of One Dollar
per lineal front foot on all land adjoining the streets, roads,
lanes or alleys where said system of sewers are laid; said addi-
tional tax shall be levied at such time as the Commissioners of
Denton shall determine upon, and shall be due and payable
thirty days after such levy and shall bear interest from said
date, and shall be collected as other taxes authorized to be
levied by said Commissioners of Denton.

162. The Commissioners of Denton shall levy uniform charges
by classes against all persons owning properties served by
water system and sewers of the municipality in such amounts
as said Commissioners shall from time to time determine to be
equitable and shall ordain.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That each section of this
sub-title and every part of each section is hereby declared to
be independent of every other section and the holding of any
