CHAPTER 23
(House Bill 173)

AN ACT to repeal Section 64 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Baltimore County (1948 Edition), being Article 3
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Balti-
more County", said section being under "Title 5. County
Treasurer", and under the sub-heading "General Provisions",
and relating to the legal advisor to be appointed by the
County Treasurer of Baltimore County; to add five new sec-
tions to said Code, said new sections to be under the new
sub-title "Title 15A. Law Department", to be known as
Sections 185A to 185E, inclusive, and to follow immediately
after Section 185 of said Code, creating a Department of
Law in Baltimore County, providing for a County Solicitor,
and relating generally to the powers and duties and the
said Department and Solicitor, his assistants, and to the
powers and duties of the County Commissioners of Balti-
more County in relation thereto.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land,
That Section 64 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Baltimore County (1948 Edition), being Article 3 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Baltimore County",
being under "Title 5. County Treasurer" and under the sub-
heading "General Provisions", be and the same is hereby re-
pealed; and that five new sections be and the same are hereby
added to said Code, said new sections to be under the new sub-
title "Title 15A. Law Department", to be known as Sections
185A to 185E, inclusive, to follow immediately after Section
185 of said Code, and to read as follows:

TITLE 15A,
LAW DEPARTMENT.

185A. County Solicitor. There shall be a Department of
Law, the head of which shall be
the County Solicitor, to be
appointed by the County Commissioners and to hold office at
the pleasure of the County Commissioners. The County Solici-
tor shall be a member of the Baltimore County Bar, and shall
receive such salary as may be
set by the County Commissioners
from time to time. Be shall maintain an office in Towson.
