men of Frederick, to levy and collect a tax on all the
assessable property in the City of Frederick, each year
in an amount not to exceed Five Thousand Dollars, to
be paid to the Trustees of C. Burr Artz Library, the
same being a free, public Library, for the purpose of
the care and maintenance of said Library in Frederick
City, " authorizing the City of Frederick to increase
its appropriation for the maintenance of the C. Burr
Artz Library.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 1 of Chapter 116 of the Acts of 1935, entitled
"An Act to authorize, in their discretion, the Mayor and
Aldermen of Frederick, to levy and collect a tax on all the
assessable property in the City of Frederick, each year
in an amount not to exceed Five Thousand Dollars, to be
paid to the Trustees of C. Burr Artz Library, the same
being a free, public Library, for the purpose of the care
and maintenance of said Library in Frederick City, " be
and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:
1. The Mayor and Aldermen of Frederick [be and
they] are hereby authorized, in their discretion, not man-
datorily, to levy and collect a tax on all the assessable
property in the City of Frederick, in each year, a sum
not to exceed [Five] Fifteen Thousand Dollars, to be paid
by the City Register and Collector of Frederick City, to
the Trustees of C. Burr Artz Library, the same being a
free, public library, for the purpose of the annual care and
maintenance of said library in Frederick City.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1951.
