SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 38A (j) of Article 25 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1947 Supplement), title "County Commis-
sioners, " sub-title "County Treasurers, " as said section
was amended by Chapter 548 of the Acts of 1949, be and
it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments,
to read as follows:

38A.

(j) The County Treasurer of Garrett County shall re-
ceive an annual salary of $4, 500. 00, out of which he shall
pay for any assistants or clerks, but the County Commis-
sioners of said County shall allow the said Treasurer
$200. 00 annually for the expense of secretarial services
in making out tax bills.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is here-
by declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the
immediate preservation of the public health and safety,
and having been passed by a yea and nay vote, supported
by three-fifths of all of the members elected to each of the
two Houses of the General Assembly, the same shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 78A of the An-
notated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition and 1947 Sup-
plement), title "Public Works—Board of, " said new
section to be known as Section 13A, to follow immedi-
ately after Section 13 thereof and to be under the sub-
title "Federal Projects, " authorizing the Board of Pub-
lic Works to acquire and convey certain property for
the Harpers Ferry National Monument.
