SEC. 8. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall not
become effective until it shall have been submitted to the quali-
fied voters of the Town of District Heights, in Prince George's
County, at the next regular municipal election, or at a special
election to be held on such date as shall be determined by the
Town Commissioners of said Town. There shall be printed on
the ballots to be used at said election, the title of this Act and
underneath said title on separate lines, a square or box to
the right of and opposite the words "For Street Improvement
Bond Issue", and a corresponding square or box to the right
of and opposite the words "Against Street Improvement Bond
Issue", so that the voters shall be able to designate by a cross
mark in the proper square or box his or her decision for or
against said proposed bond issue. If a majority of the votes
cast on said question shall be "For Street Improvement Bond
Issue", then this Act shall become immediately effective. If a
majority of the votes cast thereon shall be "Against Street
Improvement Bond Issue", then this Act shall be null and
void and of no effect whatsoever.

CHAPTER 161
(House Bill 379)
AN ACT to authorize and empower the Mayor and City Council
of Laurel to expend the balance of the proceeds of the bonds
issued by said Mayor and City Council under the provisions
of Chapter 814 of 1941 and Chapter 368 of 1943, for the
extension and improvement of the water and sewer systems
of the Town of Laurel.
WHEREAS, Chapter 814 of the Acts of 1941 authorized the
Mayor and City Council of Laurel to issue $60, 000 of bonds
for building a sewer disposal plant and Chapter 368 of the
Acts of 1943 authorized said Mayor and City Council to issue
$100, 000 of bonds for constructing a sewer disposal plant and
removing and repairing sewer mains in said Town; and
WHEREAS, the Acts authorizing said bond issues provided
that the proceeds could only be used for the above-mentioned
purposes; and
