321A. Of the forty-eight jurors so drawn, as provided in the
preceding section, the Judge or Judges on the day on which
they were so drawn shall select and appoint one as the foreman
of the grand jury at the next ensuing term of said Circuit
Court; and of the remaining forty-seven names, the first twen-
ty-two in the order in which they were drawn shall with the
foreman selected as aforesaid constitute the grand jury, and
the remaining twenty-five shall constitute the petit jury for
the term of court for which they have been drawn, and said
names shall be
recorded as drawn for the respective juries to
which they belong; and thereupon the said Judge or Judges
shall forthwith order a venire facias, directed to the Sheriff
of said County, commanding him to summon as grand jurors
to attend on the first day of the next ensuing term of said

Court the several persons whose names have been drawn and
selected as grand jurors as aforesaid, and also commanding the
said Sheriff to summon as petit jurors to attend on the third
Monday of the next ensuing term of said court, or to such other
date in the term as shall be directed by the Judge or Judges,
the several persons whose names have been drawn as petit
jurors as aforesaid. Any vacancies, for whatever reason, shall
be filled in accordance with the provisions of Article 51 of the
Code of Public General Laws of Maryland.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1951.

CHAPTER 159

(House Bill 356)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 20
of Article 51 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1947 Sup-
plement), title "Juries", sub-title "Qualification and Selec-
tion of Jurors", as said section was amended by Chapter 250
of the Acts of 1949, and to repeal Section 323 of Article 1 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition),
title "Allegany County", sub-title "Jurors", relating to the
compensation of jurors in Allegany County.
