by law in any way conferred upon the said town; but all ordi-
nances shall state therein the time they shall go into effect,
and shall be published either by a copy thereof being inserted
in some newspaper published in the town, or by typewritten
copies set at not less than four of the most public places in the
said town ten days before the date they are to go into force.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1951.

(House Bill 296)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 238
of the Prince George's County Code (1943 Edition, being
Article 17 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland),
title "Prince George's County, sub-title "Circuit Court",
sub-heading "Stenographers", as said section was amended
by Chapter 349 of the Acts of 1947, authorizing an increase
in the compensation of the stenographers appointed by the
Judges resident in Prince George's County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 238 of the Prince George's County Code
(1943 Edition, being Article 17 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland), title "Prince George's County", sub-title
"Circuit Court", sub-heading "Stenographers", as said section
was amended by Chapter 349 of the Acts of 1947, be and it is
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:
238. Each of the Judges of the Seventh Judicial Circuit
resident in Prince George's County is hereby authorized to
appoint a stenographer for his official use. Each of said ste-
nographers shall hold his or her position at the pleasure of the
Judge by whom he or she is appointed, and shall receive com-
pensation therefor at a rate not exceeding [Twenty-five Hun-
dred Dollars ($2, 500. 00)] Thirty-six Hundred Dollars
($3, 600. 00) per annum. Such compensation shall be levied an-
