THEODORE R. MCKELDIN, GOVERNOR 243

Edition, being Article 3 of the Code of Public Local Laws
of Maryland), title "Baltimore County", said section being
under "Title 26—State's Attorney", and having been amend-
ed by Chapter 403 of the Acts of 1949, increasing the salary
of the State's Attorney of Baltimore County to |6, 000. 00
annually.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land,
That Section 384 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Baltimore County (1948 Edition, being Article 3 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Baltimore County",
said section being under "Title 26—State's Attorney", and
having been amended by Chapter 403 of the Acts of 1949, be
and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments,
to read as follows:

384. The State's Attorney of Baltimore County shall receive
an annual salary of [Five] Six Thousand Dollars [($5, 00. 00)]
($6, 000. 00) to be paid to him in equal semi-monthly install-
ments by the County Commissioners of Baltimore County. The
State's Attorney for Baltimore County is hereby authorized
and empowered to appoint such clerical and other assistance
as in his judgment may be necessary for the proper conduct
of his office, at such compensation as he may deem proper, to
be paid by the County Commissioners of Baltimore County on
the certification of the State's Attorney. Such clerical and
other assistance as may be appointed by the State's Attorney
hereunder shall perform such clerical and other work as he
may direct. The salary herein provided for the State's Attor-
ney of Baltimore County shall be payable accounting from
the [effective date of the amendment to Section 9 of Article 5
of the Maryland Constitution, as proposed by Chapter 490 of
the Acts of 1943. ] date on which the State's Attorney elected
to office in the regular elections of 1954 shall take office.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1951.
