to serve the term of two years and shall elect four Councilmen,
one from each ward, to be voted for by the qualified voters of
each ward, two to serve for the term of two years and two to
serve for the term of one year. At the first meeting the Mayor
and Town Council shall designate the time to be served by each
Councilman. At each successive annual election the qualified
voters of each ward in which there is a vacancy shall elect a
Councilman to serve for the term of two years. The Mayor and
the Treasurer must continually reside in said town, and each
Councilman in his respective ward during their term of office,
and the Mayor and Council shall receive compensation for
their services according to the number of regular meetings they
attend, each Councilman to receive not in excess of [five] Ten
Dollars for each regular meeting attended and the Mayor to
receive not in excess of [ten] Twenty Dollars for each regular
meeting attended, and in no case for more than two meetings
per month and the Mayor shall receive the fees hereinafter
allowed; provided, however, that the compensation of the
Mayor and the members of the Council shall be fixed by the
Mayor and Town Council under this provision at any regular
meeting, based upon available funds as determined by the
Mayor and Town Council under the prevailing tax rate; and
provided, further, that the Mayor and the members of the
Council, or any of them, may be reimbursed or paid for any
expenses incurred or losses sustained by them while perform-
ing Ms or their official duties on behalf of the town. The
Mayor and Town Council, in their discretion, may fix such com-
pensation for the Treasurer as they may deem just and neces-
sary.

107. On or before the second Monday in May in each and
every year, the Mayor and Town Council shall appoint two
qualified voters of said town not holding any other office there-
under as Supervisors of Election, who shall also act as Regis-
tration Officials and Judges of Election at any election held
during the year succeeding their appointment, and said Super-
visors of Election are authorized to administer oaths in the
performance of their duties hereinafter set forth. In case of a
vacancy occurring in said year in the office of Supervisors of
Election, the Mayor and Town Council shall appoint a quali-
fied person to fill said vacancy occurring in said office. The
Supervisors of Election shall receive [five] Ten Dollars each
for each and every day they may be required to serve as Judges
of Election or as Registration Officials.

109. (a) Annually, after due notice printed in some county
newspaper having general circulation in the town, the Super-
visors of Election shall appoint two clerks who shall receive
